Negar Kharkan (b.1983, Tehran) is a musician and music-educator from Iran. She started playing music at the age of 11. She received her B.Mus from Music college in 2003 and later on her Master in the Tehran Art university in 2006. Her music education started back in 1994, when she used to attend the Music conservatory in Tehran to learn Kamancheh from most experienced Masters of Persian music, notably Hadi Montazeri, Ardeshir Kamkar and Saeed Farajpouri. She started Teaching Kamancheh in the Music conservatory in Tehran between years spanning 2002 and 2008.
She is considered as a renowned musician both within Iran and among the diaspora not only for being one of the most gifted Persian classical musicians of her generation, but also as a unique musician figure in Iran, regardless of any gender, to have the experience of working with almost all the most acclaimed Persian classical Maestros and ensembles, including Maestro Mmohammad Reza Shajarian, Maestro Dariush Talai, Maestro Ardeshir Kamkar, Maestro Shahram Nazeri and Maestro Hossein Alizadeh. She has released a considerable quantity of music both independently and in-collaboration with other projects, in addition to the countless live-performances and music-tours that she experienced during her career.

“Intimate Invocations” is one of Negar’s recent compositions; she has composed it during a residency program at Vayu-residency in Kashan (w. Kamanche, Soundscapes). The composition is later on exhibited in an open-studio session and also includes the sound of the audience after who have participated in the process using the few of percussive instruments that were available for them to be able to actively participate and accompany the music with. Soheil Soheili worked as the sound-recording technician/ artist who also mixed Negra’s intricate composition on-site.
