about

Jesus Valenti is a musician and electronic music composer based in Madrid. His work focuses on digital aesthetics in a musical and transversal perspective, which includes both sound and visual elements. Born in Venezuela in 1994, he grew up in Italy. Since the age of 14, he has been active in a wide range of artistic disciplines , such as poetry, dance, music and physical performance). In Italy he completed his studies in electronic music as a student of the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste. In this period he started to focus on improvisation as a means of achieving introspection, through the sonic irrational and unpredictable communication forms. In 2017 he participated at Forma - Free Music Impulse came into contact with the INA GRM and with artists like Ryoji Ikeda, Kassel Jaeger, Emptyset and Aleksandar Koruga. In 2018 he became a member of the Ubulembu electronic ensemble, born from Giovanni Maier’s experimental research on Conduction conduction and improvisation. This experience increased his attentiveness to multimedia and multimodal investigation, as he started to work with the communicative possibilities between music, image, sound and other expressive forms. In 2019 he studied Persian music, language and culture at the Dehkhoda Institute of Tehran. His major focus here is the concept of improvisation in the context of Persian music. He traveled to many cities of Iran, capturing field recordings of rural areas’ soundscapes and of big metropolitan centers, seeking to conciliate them with electroacoustic sonorities. Over the past 8 years, he has collaborated in more than 30 music projects, sound installations and performances. Currently he collaborates with the organization of In-Sonora, an International art exhibition taking place in Madrid.
