ALI BALIGHI is an experimental composer. His works are mostly based on traditional Iranian folk music, with a tendency of also exploring microtonality and new instrumental perspectives. His compositional background also includes a wide variety of symphonic, chamber, and solo instrumental works; music for theater productions; and theme music for film and television. Beyond composition, he also teaches music in the university, an activity that includes a wide variety of courses including cello performance, music theory, sight singing, ear training, musical form.

Ali received his Bachelors of Music in cello performance from the Tehran University of Art, where he graduated with highest honors. His teachers and mentors include Hamidreza Dibazar (Dean of Faculty of Music at the Tehran University of Art), Sharif Lotfi (the university's former Dean), Mostafa Poortorab, Karim Ghorbani (a well-known Iranian cellist), Majid Esmaeeli, Ildin Ahmadinejad, Keyan Emami, and Maziar Heydari. His initial compositional studies began with Kiawash Sahebnassagh and Mohammadreza Azin, and he has also participated in masterclasses with Ahmad Pejman.

Ali has also worked as a University Instructor of Music at the Elmi-Karbodi of Alborz, Azad University, Tehran Conservatory of Music where he has taught a wide variety of courses including cello performance, music theory, sight singing, ear training, musical form, and a beginner course in music composition.

علی بلیغی نام هنرمند آهنگساز موسیقی تجربی است که آثارش بر پایه موسیقی سنتی و فولک ایران، با گرایشی به کاوش در زمینه‌ی میکرو تونالیته و چشم‌اندازهای سازبندی نو نوشته شده است. او قطعه‌های فراوانی ساخته است، که در طیفی بین موسیقی سمفونی، مجلسی و قطعه‌های تکنوازی نوشته شده‌اند، این قطعه‌های همچنین در طیفی در بین موسیقی برای صحنه تئاتر و فیلم و تلویزیون مورد استفاده قرار گرفته‌اند. او از مدتی نزدیک به پنج سال پیش نائل به دریافت جوایزی برای آهنگسازی قطعه‌های خود شده است.
پیش زمینه‌ی فعالیت او شامل دریافت مدرک کارشناسی موسیقی برای اجرای ساز ویولن سل از دانشگاه تهران، با رتبه‌ی تحصیلی ممتاز می‌باشد. او به همراه اساتیدی مانند حمیدرضا دیبازر، شریف لطفی، مصطفی پورتراب، کریم قربانی، مجید اسماعیلی، آیدین احمدی‌نژاد، کیوان امامی و مازیار حیدری به یادگیری موسیقی پرداخته است، این در حالی است که اولین درس‌های او در باب آهنگسازی در کلاس‌های درس کیاوش صاحب‌نسق، و همچنین محمدرضا آذین و احمد پژمان شکل گرفت.
علی بلیغی در کنار آهنگسازی به آموزش موسیقی در دانشگاه نیز می‌پردازد، فعالیتی که شامل فعالیت در آموزش در زمینه‌هایی به گستردگی میان مطالب درسی مربوط به اجرای ویولن‌سل، تئوری موسیقی، نت‌خوانی، تربیت شنوایی و فرم در موسیقی است.
