Pizzs & Harmonics (2017) is inspired by my improvisations on violin to explore new timbres and textures. The piece is using four types of material: recorded violin pizzicatos, recorded violin natural harmonics, and two synthesized tones. The formal structure of the piece is inspired by Ysaye’s Sonata No.6 Op.27 for solo violin (1923). The exposition is musically transformed into percussive sounds filled with pizzicatos. The development uses more of melodic characteristics, shaped by harmonics and sustained tones.

Rarely does experimentation merge so seamlessly the analog with the digital. Tegh's textures at times clash and at times befriend Poursamadi's strings, creating a landscape as fragmented as the present, as nostalgic as the past, and as unitary as the future. The two musicians dialogue for a nexus without finding a resolution, but as they say, the journey is certainly more pivotal than the destination. Stéfan Németh
